Luke Minton, Bass-Baritone

Luke Minton, third year El Paso Conservatory student and sophomore at Coronado High School, achieved great success at the Schmidt Vocal Competition held in Tempe, Arizona.  The contest is limited to 35 contestants, open to all Sophomore, Junior and Senior students throughout the U.S.  There were singers from California, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Florida.


Luke was a finalist and was awarded the Best Sophomore Award.  He performed Zueignung by Strauss, Weep You No More by Quilter and Lamento by DuParc.  His beautiful singing brought rave remarks from the judges and the audience.  Luke is a student in the Conservatory Four Year Pre-College Certificate Program and a private voice student of Prentice Loftin.


In addition to his music, Luke is an Academic Decathlon scholar and winner, and his grades are the top of his sophomore class at Coronado High School.
